The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbooks Board (KPTBB), Peshawar is a successor of West Pakistan Textbook Board which was established in 1962. Prior to West Pakistan Textbooks Board, there was no regular system of printing, publishing, and distributing text books.
In 1962, the Government decided to introduce a regular system of production and distribution of text books. The West Pakistan Textbooks Board an autonomous body was established beside East Pakistan Textbooks Board. On disintegration of one unit in 1971 from provinces including NWFP were constituted, at that time two regional offices of West Pakistan.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board plays a vital role in boosting up of educational sector of the province. The main function of the Board is to prepare quality and error free textbooks well in time for the students of the whole province including far flung and remote corners of the Province.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board came into existence in 1971 through an Ordinance. Since then, as per given mandate, the Board used to print textbooks under KPPRA Rules 2014. The warehouse of KPTBB is hosting hosted 50 million books of different subjects from class KG to 12th grades and provides to 37 districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
